Inaugural cruise of Saga’s ‘Spirit of Adventure’ and three ‘Spirit of Discovery’ round Britain itineraries sell out

The inaugural launch of Saga Cruises’ new ship, ‘Spirit of Adventure’ and three of the four British Isles cruises on ‘Spirit of Discovery’ were already sold out within two weeks of officially going on sale on March 29. There is now only limited availability on the Great British Isles Adventure cruise departing from Tilbury on July 11, 2021.

Nigel Blanks, CEO of Saga Cruises, said: “Our guests had told us how much they wanted to get travelling again and we couldn’t have more proof of that than our inaugural ‘Spirit of Adventure’ cruise and three of our four ‘Spirit of Discovery’ itineraries selling out so quickly.

“We’d prioritised guests whose Saga Cruises had been cancelled due to Covid by proactively offering them the option to rebook on to the British Isles cruises prior to them going on general sale on March 29, which a good number took up, and since then the rest of the cabins have been snapped up.

“We put it down to the fact that our guests know that, not only is their safety and wellbeing our number one priority, as evidenced through our requirement that all travellers have received both doses of the vaccine prior to boarding, but that they will also enjoy an incredible experience on our ships.”

The remaining cruise with availability is the Great British Isles Adventure departing from Tilbury on July 11, 2021 aboard Spirit of Discovery for 14 nights, calling at Falmouth, Holyhead, Belfast, Greenock, Ullapool, Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Newhaven and Newcastle and disembarking back in Tilbury. Sight-seeing tours of Belfast, Kirkwall, Edinburgh and Newcastle are included. All cabins have balconies and prices start from £3,899 per person. Guests can book at saga.co.uk/cruise, on 0800 50 50 30 or through their travel agent.

Both ‘Spirit of Adventure’ and its sister ship ‘Spirit of Discovery’ are small by today’s ship standards, which enables Saga cruises to reach destinations other larger cruise liners can’t.

Both ships host a maximum of 999 guests each, although capacity for these cruises is being capped to comply with covid restrictions. The ships have a modern, contemporary look and feel and offer guests the choice of five restaurants, bars and entertainment facilities including the signature Britannia lounge with a dance floor and live entertainment, theatre, salon and sports amenities. Outdoor facilities include an observation deck, impressive wraparound promenade and terrace, pool, games area, sports court and deck games.

These exciting new summer cruises all include a choice of complementary UK travel to and from the port including a private door-to-door chauffeur service up to 250 miles each way, car parking near the port, domestic flights or standard class rail or coach travel.

There are no hidden costs on-board either. Saga Cruises come with all dining and house drinks including a selection of wines with lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi, on-board gratuities, fitness facilities, 24-hour room service, sightseeing tours in selected ports, entertainment (from lectures to recitals), porterage of luggage, shuttle buses to nearest town centres and travel insurance with up to £5m coronavirus cover included. All of this backed up by the Saga Cruise Promise – in the event that a cruise price is reduced guests will be the given the value of the difference back.

As guests would expect from Saga Cruises, a company with the Lloyd’s Register Shield+ accreditation for health and hygiene, health and well-being is at the forefront of the planning for the resumption of services. Saga is asking all guests to have had both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine prior to boarding the ships and the company’s dedicated health and safety team are ensuring rigorous standards are set and adhered to on board.
